February 2012 Recap

Even though there’s still one day of February left, I’m jumping the gun on my February recap.

#1 (Run a half marathon) My lottery for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is in!

#2 (Learn 12 new recipes) I attended a cooking class at the Whole Foods Coop titled “The Boot is Off” which was Italian cooking. I really enjoyed the class, but didn’t have my new camera at the time, so it wasn’t documented for the blog.

Once I got my new camera I did continue the “I made it, I ate it” series with a post on Mushrooms. So I would say I’m on track for completing this goal!

#3 (Put my college pictures into photo albums) In January I thought about printing my pictures, and in February I wanted to, but I have been focusing on saving my money….

#4 (Create a race scrapbook) I am not one step closer, I think I’ll be spending an afternoon at The Scrapbook and More in March.

#5 (Make 12 time or money donations to various charities and/or nonprofits.) I attended the Miracles of Mitch Benefit Dinner sponsored by Theta Xi Gamma Sorority and won a great silent auction item!

#6 (Learn to blog!) I finally bought a new camera and have started adding pictures to my posts. But I really would like to take a deeper dive into style and content!

#7 (Finish the New Rules of Lifting For Women program.) I have one workout scheduled for Wednesday and then I will be done with Stage 3!

#8 (Remember to be Thankful.) This month I was in a car accident and was thankful for the family, friends, coworkers, and medical professionals who supported me.

#9 (Get a better handle on finances.) I need to work on this.

#10 (Get least 10 minutes of fitness each day.) I am hoping to step up the intensity of my March workouts, I have a vacation coming soon!

#11 (Do 5 minutes of clean up each day.) There are still a few pockets of mess in the house, but its not too bad.

#12 (Take the time to breathe.) In February I spent a lot of weekends running to the Twin Cities and visiting different groups of friends. While the time was well spent, I am happy that my weekends in March will be spent in Duluth or Aitkin.

All in all: I need to really increase my focus on workouts, finances, and I need to stop putting off the scrapbook or college pictures.



  1. I love the goals! 🙂 Good work Katie! Congratulations on getting into the lottery for the half marathon! That’s awesome! I’m sorry that you were in a car accident…. that happened to me too actually… Very strange! Anyway, good work and I just ordered the new rules of weight lifting for women… 🙂 Any tips?

    1. My biggest tip for the New Rules of Lifting is to make it work for you. I personally am not sore until 24 hours after I lift, so I only do 2 days a week for lifting. Also, I didn’t follow the diet in the book, so my visual results aren’t spectacular, but I feel good about getting into lifting!
