And… we are home! I couldn’t have asked for a better week of work and am so happy we finally agreed/decided to get out of town. Pre-covid our assumption was that Jeff would go to his family cottage in Canada, and hopefully I would join for part of the trip. However the Canadian border isn’t actually open right now (rightfully so) so we suddenly had vacation days to use.
We decided on Door County as our destination because…. neither of us had been there, it sounded like there was plenty to do, and it was a farther drive than Duluth (I will pretty much never turn down a Duluth trip).
Prior to vacation I was pretty much like this tree on the cliff. Doing fine, growing, but certainly not comfortable. I’m nervous for turning my work computer back on. I’ve stayed true to my word, took work email off my phone, and am not logging in again until Monday morning. Its not expected that I log in before, but at the same time I’m worried about what I’ve missed in the last week.
We got back on Thursday night which meant Jeff had time to go fishing in Minnesota, we got the dinner he has been craving since mid-covid, and are planning on biking and probably playing tennis before we start back the work routine.
I’m thankful Summer isn’t over yet, and I’m hopeful for social distance Fall activities. We keep talking about visiting Stillwater or Hudson for a lunch and walk, but that hasn’t happened yet. I would also drive down to St. Peter for some hiking and either a Patrick’s bloody, or Jeff has some place in Savage that he used to love.
What social distance activities are you comfortable with / thinking of doing in the next few weeks?
