31: Peace

Hello Friends, one week ago George Floyd died and I don’t have the words to share much. A knee to the neck is not the kind of restraint I want to see on anyone. Black lives matter, and as a Minnesotan and a white woman I am taking this time to evaluate my thoughts, words, and actions.

I couldn’t find the right word to associate with this week. I settled with Peace, but I’m also afraid it will be interpreted incorrectly. I’m not asking for everyone to go home and lets all forget this happened and go back to our Covid life. We need change and change is hard. But my hope is that as we go through this change, we find some peace. Peace in the knowledge that the change will be good and fair and set us up for a tomorrow that we can be proud of.

The officers involved need to be held accountable to their actions, and the agencies involved need to reform their training. I am not an expert on any of this (or on any aspect of life really). I hope you forgive me as I process this less on social media and more in my heart.

Take care, Katie

  1. It’s really hard to know what to say. I have felt that way this week and haven’t posted much on social media as everything I had to say about how I felt just seemed so… trivial. I am also doing the work to educate myself and learn how to be a better advocate.

Don't be afraid, leave a comment!
