My Own Ever After…Brewfest Recap

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Everyone wants a happy ending, but stories don’t wrap up neatly, if they wrap up at all. Today you’ll have to shut the book where you shut it and make up your own ever after.

Yesterday’s horoscope was perfect for me. I’ve known for a while that it’s going to be up to me to figure out how my story ends. No one is going to do it for me.

Harvest Moon Briefest

Saturday I volunteered to help set up the Harvest Moon Brewfest. And next year I’ll be asking all my friends to come join me, because it was awesome!! I love that Aitkin has a building with such character and potential. I love that there are locals willing to support endeavors, and out of towners who came to check it out too!

There were a few awkward moments though. One person asked me who I came to the event with…which was myself. I didn’t see the need to bring a buddy when the event is wandering around and trying beer, there were going to be plenty of people I could talk to. And yes, the photo is intentionally a selfie reflection. Although that other person behind me wasn’t intentional.

The other awkward moment was when someone asked…so where’s your significant other? I have no idea where the idea that I had a significant other came from, but I pretty much started laughing immediately. I don’t blame either of these people for making assumptions. It’d be great if I had a partner in crime. But at the moment I’m single, and I’m writing my own story.

And there’s always the love of this guy. It may just be sibling love, but he’s pretty great.

    1. it is a good life! There are so many things to be thankful for, and I can’t wait to hear about your new job!!!

  1. Ugh, I hate it when people ask questions like that. I also hated it when people would say, “why are you still single”? Soooo annoying! That said I am glad that you had fun at the event. I was single for MANY years, and I really tried not let my single status keep me from doing anything!

    1. bahah. I haven’t had the “why” question in a while…but I usually say “i’m a lot to handle.” I was also asking someone to get together the other day and it was shortly after seeing them at an event. I told my bestie “I might be coming off as too excited but who cares, cause that’s who I am”.

    1. Haha thank you!! I definitely have been asked “how old are your kids” but I put myself up for that…I am always playing with a kiddo if I see them, and I have enough friends with kids that I can ask developmental questions that helps the assumption that I would know from experience…

As for going to stuff alone, do it!!! Some people don’t get it, I was dining alone the other day and the waitress called me “honey” a thousand times, which was super annoying. But more often than not I have a cool conversation with someone that I might not have had if I were with someone else.

  2. “Unapologetically Single” is how I describe myself. Why is the concept of finding happiness and contentment in yourself and not constantly seeking a mate so odd to people, and why does being solo anywhere merit questions? Sometimes it is as simple as being able to move through a crowd either on your own time or more quickly when you’re alone. More people-especially women-should try it. Keep it up!

    1. Love it! I hope the person had a little wake up call, but if not, oh well. I wasn’t ashamed and am very comfortable going to things alone. Sure I’d love a partner in crime, but I’m not going to sit at home without one.
