Peace Perspective III: Home

This week’s Peace Perspective is inspired by the lyrics of Coldplay. Fix You Coldplay LyricsI really believe that we are guided on a path, we can decide whether or not to follow that plan, but there is a method to the madness of life.

About a year and a half ago I took the leap and moved home. I was worried about it. I was afraid of seeming like a failure, or a loser. Especially because I moved right back in with my family.

But the truth is, if I hadn’t made that leap, there are so many things I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish. I would have never been able to become a Yoga Sculpt instructor. The training required six weeks of 5 hour nights in Eden Prairie. There is no way I could have done that from my job in Duluth.

There’s also a chance I wouldn’t have been able to attend the Healthy Living Summit last year. The friendships and growth that came out of those few days are still shining through even though it has been 4 months since we were there.

Finally, if I didn’t have the community of my small town, things would be a lot harder. Sure there are down sides, but the positives far out weigh them.

Have you ever taken a leap? Did it open up new opportunities?

  1. I moved to Long Island by myself, not knowing a soul, after graduating grad school. I got a job down here, I was 22, and I saw it as a wonderful opportunity. The first year was insanely hard but now I’ve been here for 4 and it’s home. Taking chances is always worth it, and when things don’t turn out the way you planned (like I assumed I would immediately have friends… not the case) go with the flow 🙂
I agree- the good outweighs the bad!

As per the Cold Play song- Anytime I hear that song I tear up. What gives?! It’s so beautiful.

  2. I moved to CT a year and a half ago, and although I have had some of the hardest times of my life here, I have also learned things about myself and my strength that I don’t know if I would have had I not come here. I believe that things happen for a reason. I have to.

    1. Yes! Things totally happen for a reason (although the reason is sometimes unclear at the time, and not always about us, but sometimes about someone else). Its a hard concept sometimes. But if you can trust that, you will be okay!

  3. Love this! I’m still living with my Mum at home, but I probably wouldn’t have been able to plan a trip to France with my Grammy if I hadn’t. There’s a reason for everything. Can’t wait for HLS14 and more unforgettable memories.
