You Do You! (or learn how)

I’ve started a few new projects recently. In my head.

In reality I’ve started one project, helping with the social media for a local company. Its a lot of fun! (and kind of easy, I’m already posting on my personal facebook and twitter pages, why not expand it a bit?) So…if you are local and reading this, let me know if you’d like a little help!

There’s a project that is currently being thought about but isn’t official yet… Fit Camp. A free group workout for Aitkin. Right now we’re thinking one day a week, maybe Sunday or Monday. But at this moment there’s nothing concrete, so let me know if you have strong feelings in any direction, or if you want to be updated once we have something planned!

One of my “dream projects” is taking the Yoga Sculpt certification. Its an intimidating workout, but very effective! My favorite local (brainerd area) instructor is Joleen (she’s also the only instructor I know of up here). The woman is ripped, funny, and completely inspiring. And I know I would never be at her level.

But….my favorite Minnesota blogger Katrina from Sota is Sexy had a post today that made me reconsider. Please click over and check it out, she brings so much laughter in her posts, plus an interesting look of the crazy things we do MN that you may not have realized were crazy. (Not everyone starts their car to warm it up, with the keys in it and the doors unlocked, who knew?)

And I’m realizing that what I thought was something I could never (especially compare to Joleen), is something I can ABSOLUTELY do. So long as I’m realistic about what the opening sessions will look like. (And I promise to never use a microphone).

What have all three of these things taught me? Its important to do YOU, do what inspires you, what you enjoy, and don’t worry too much about what people think. Let them know you’re trying something and working out the kinks, be open to suggestions, but stay true to yourself. Because if you’re not happy with what you’re doing, NO ONE is going to be happy with what you’re doing.

Is there something you dream of doing but aren’t sure you could or should?

  1. Love this post! It’s SOO important to “Do YOU” and I’m glad you are embracing it. Life is far too short to hold ourselves back — sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and go for it! (I know…easier said than done.)

Good luck with your Yoga Sculpt certification — can’t wait to hear how it goes. Please keep us posted!
