Trick or Teets? (Cover that up!)

Halloween may not officially be until Wednesday, but I’m sure there are plenty of people planning on going out tonight! While some people may follow the advice as quoted in Mean Girls…”Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.”

I tend to disagree. If you’ve got it and feel like flaunting it, go for it. However, be aware that other people may still judge you. Whether or not its correct, halloween isn’t a free for all, plus, if you’re located in Minnesota its a little too chilly to comfortably wear those skimpy outfits without a jacket, which more than likely won’t match your outfit anyways.

I don’t plan on going out tonight or on Wednesday, at least not for halloween specific events, however I do have two costumes from the past I thought I’d share in case other people are looking for inspiration.

Not Slutty Halloween Costume IdeaA few years ago I was “lumber jill” My shirt I found at charlotte russe (although any plaid shirt will do) and for bottoms I wore long johns, and my hat was my own that kept me especially warm (and made everything sound a little quieter). I found the plastic ax at the dollar store. The ax is the only thing I haven’t used again, so cost was $1. (Clothes I wore again so I’m not counting them).

Not Slutty Halloween Costume

Last year I was part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I will admit I was not the creative genius behind it, but I do have some very creative friends! We purchased green sweat pants and sweatshirts from walmart, as well as the materials necessary to complete the outfit. The yellow bellies (which also had yellow shells on our backs) were attached with safety pins, as was the brown belt. This was a no-sew outfit that really didn’t take much time! I never totaled the cost, but I would assume around $15. (and we won the bar costume contest!)

This year I contemplated going to the cities, however Halloween 2010 in uptown was a mess, too many people, and not enough drinks. Last year in Duluth was a lot of fun (I went to my favorite bar Dubh Linns). And this year I’m planning on laying low and drinking some pumpkin wine I found here.

What do you think about revealing halloween outfits? What are you dressing up as?

Inspiration for this post from Caitlin!
